The profiled cylinder lock has a cylinder housing and at least one key-operated core or insert or bit. A number of pin holders are within the housing, which are moved into the release position by electromagnetic actuators. The actuators are activated remotely. At least one end side of the cylinder insert is of a ceramic material or a ceramic cap, which is fitted with a positive and/or material bonding. The outer side of the ceramic cap has an insertion profile matching the structure of the key, and holds an electronic receiver and/or transmitter with a power supply connection. The transceiver can be an integrated circuit or a hybrid assembly for electronic signal processing and actuator control.
