The invention relates to a polyester film with an elemental phosphorus concentration of from 0 to 170 ppm, wherein the film comprises a concentration of terminal carboxyl groups of 26 eq/ton or less. Furthermore the invention relates to a process for the manufacture of the polyester film and to its use.
