Pitting corrosion diagnostic method and apparatus for stainless steel and for seawater pump using stainless steel as a structural member

A stainless steel pitting corrosion diagnostic method comprising the steps of:measuring beforehand a potential difference between a corrosion-proof potential and a pitting potential, a pitting depth, and elapsed time required for reaching the pitting depth for stainless steel having a same material as that of the stainless steel to be measured and preserving a mutual relation thereof as measured data, andmeasuring the potential difference between the corrosion-proof potential and the pitting potential for the stainless steel to be measured, comparing the measured potential difference with a mutual relation between the potential difference between the corrosion-proof potential and the pitting potential of the measured data preserved, the pitting depth, and the elapsed time required for reaching the pitting depth, calculating the pitting depth after the elapsed time generated in the stainless steel to be measured, thereby predicting the pitting corrosion progress generated in the stainless steel.
