Method and electronic journey log system for keeping a log of a motor vehicle's journeys

The method involves detecting movement related data electronically during operation of a motor vehicle (1). The movement related data characterizes the movement of the motor vehicle. A part of the movement related data is automatically transferred to an electronic database (3a) as a data set. A defined part of the movement-related data is transferred as another data set from the database by a database management system (4a). The transfer of the movement related data from the former data set to the latter data set is the exclusive transmission path movement related data in the latter data set. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an electronic log book guiding system for executing the log book guiding method for a motor vehicle; (2) a method for determining the length of a distance covered by the motor vehicle; and (3) a device formed for determining the length of the distance covered by the motor vehicle.
