Hybrid organic-inorganic corrosion inhibitors for chromate-free corrosion resistant coatings

摘要

A corrosion inhibitor formulation containing no chromate, or toxic compounds consist essentially of: zinc acetylacetonate and benzimidazole derivatives with the mole ratio of 100:1 to 1:100 of zinc acetylacetonate : benzimidazole derivatives. The use of the formulations in organic coatings in the range of 0.01-0.04 mol in 100g dry film increases corrosion resistance of the mild steel.
