PURPOSE: An abrasive for a water jet is provided to maintain uniform size of abrasive, to improve grinding or cutting efficiency and lifetime of an abrasive, and to prevent objects from being damaged.;CONSTITUTION: An abrasive(210) for a water jet comprises abrasive particles(10) with sharp edges on the surface thereof; and a protective layer which surrounds the surface of the abrasive particles and includes at least one of phenol resin, epoxy resin, and urethane resin. A method for manufacturing the abrasive for the water jet comprises the steps of: supplying abrasive particles; forming a protective film covering the abrasive particles by dipping the particles in the solution containing at least one of phenol resin, epoxy resin, and urethane resin; drying the protective film; and hardening the protective film.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
