PURPOSE: A method for processing a channel change request in an IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) system is provided to transmit a physical channel change request corresponding to an initial channel change request when an initial channel change request is received, thereby transmitting a physical channel change request corresponding to a final channel change request when the timeout period of the final channel change request expires.;CONSTITUTION: A digital decoder performs trigger of the timeout period of Ttempo and transmission of a physical channel change request corresponding to a channel change request(420). If a new channel change request is received by the digital decoder during the timeout period, the digital decoder performs trigger of a new timeout period of Ttempo(460).
