PURPOSE: A mobile communication terminal for retrieving phone number by using cell identity information of a base station and a method thereof are provided to search the phone number of a mobile communication terminal within a cell of a base station and transmit the searched phone number to a user. CONSTITUTION: A cell identification information transmitter(200) transmits a service area information query to a mobile communication system, and the service area information query includes cell identification. A service area information receiver(210) receives the service area information corresponding to the cell ID information from the mobile communication system. An area information decision unit(230) judges whether the service area information is identical to or included in the address information of a storage unit(240). A display unit(250) outputs the phone number or the phone number ID information corresponding to the address information.
