A peak power detection circuit of a radar RF pulse in onboard transponder of a launch vehicle is provided to detect a power level of a radar RF pulse signal received in the transponder by sampling, holding the peak of an output of a log amplifier and converting the peak to a power value. A sample and hold amplifier(140) senses and samples an RF pulse signal in a pulse on time of an RF pulse signal outputted from a log amplifier of a transponder. The sample and hold amplifier holds the sampled value until the following RF pulse signal is sensed and outputs the sampling and holding value. A controller(130) recognizes the pulse on time of the RF pulse signal outputted from the log amplifier and controls the sampling time and the holding time of the sample and hold amplifier. A signal control amplifier(150) converts the sampling and holding value outputted from the sample and hold amplifier to 0 - 5 V and uses the converted result as a telemetry measuring signal.
