MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE-MELAMINE COMPLEX PARTICLE AND FLAME RETARDANT COMPOSITIONS INCLUDING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A magnesium hydroxide-melamine complex particle is provided to ensure excellent flame retardancy with a small amount compared with existing retardants containing magnesium hydroxide particles. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing magnesium hydroxide-melamine complex particles comprises the steps of: (S1) dispersing magnesium hydroxide and melamine monomer in a solvent in a reaction mass ratio of 10 : 1 to prepare the mixed slurry; (S2) adding an inorganic acid to the mixed slurry to control the pH to 9-11; (S3) raising, stirring and aging the mixed slurry added with the inorganic acid; (S4) cooling the aged mixed slurry to 0-10 C; and (S5) filtering the aged mixed slurry and then drying the hydroxide-melamine complex particles.
