PURPOSE: A process for producing 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid is provided to prepare high purity and high color 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid by using a small amount of a transition metal catalyst at a low temperature.;CONSTITUTION: A process for producing 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid comprises a step of oxidizing 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene using bromine as a reaction initiator and cobalt and manganese as an oxidation catalyst in the presence of an acetic acid solvent. At that time, a part or whole of the gas exhausted after an oxidation process to an oxidation reactor and the total amount of cobalt and manganese which are a reaction catalyst is 800~2000 ppm based on the weight of solvent.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
