PURPOSE: A cell apoptosis-inducing material and a method for inducing apoptosis using the same are provided to cheaply and quickly induce apoptosis of cells or tissues and to prevent disease by early diagnosis. CONSTITUTION: A composition for inducing cell senescence contains (R)-(-)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-methanol of chemical formula 2. In chemical formula 2, R1 and R2 are independently H, R3 and R4 are independently methyl. The expression increase of intracellular caveolin is induced by introducing (R)-(-)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-methanol into cells. The expression increase of the caveolin is measured through Western blotting. The apoptosis of mammal cells is induced by adding (R)-(-)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-methanol into cells. The apoptosis induction is performed through microinjection, calcium phosphate co-precipitation, electroporation or cationic liposome utilization.
