Disclosed is a method for producing an aromatic polyether sulfone (PES) having a hydroxyphenyl end group which is suitable for an alloying agent. This method for producing an aromatic polyether sulfone having a hydroxyphenyl end group is characterized in that an aromatic polyether sulfone obtained in advance by polymerization is heated together with a divalent phenol compound and/or water and a basic compound in an aprotic polar solvent. This method enables to efficiently and economically produce a PES having a reactive hydroxyphenyl end group, which is suitable for finely dispersing the PES in a matrix resin when a thermoplastic resin or a thermosetting resin and the PES are alloyed, by a simple process in a short time.;COPYRIGHT KIPO & WIPO 2010
