PURPOSE: A pictorial image compression method of a camera sensor for monitoring and diagnosing a power transmission line is provided to not damage pictorial data of an accurate part with a good compression rate.;CONSTITUTION: A pictorial image compression method of a camera sensor for monitoring and diagnosing a power transmission line comprises the first step and the second step. Four sub images are generated by down-sampling by applying a low pass filter and a high pass filter to each row of a 2D pictorial image in the first step. Separating procedures for sub images of low and high frequency areas are differently applied in the four sub images and the pictorial images are compressed in the second step. An image which separates a sub image of a high frequency area with a severe change from the four sub images is generated in the four sub images in the second step. Moreover, the image of the second step and the separated image are compressed together while a sub image of a low frequency area with a not severe change in the four sub images is not separated.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
