PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to obtain high-sensitivity image of low noise characteristic by processing images with color information of high noise characteristic through the light of an optical wavelength band or infrared ray.;CONSTITUTION: A first noise reduction part(401) eliminates the noise of an auxiliary image signal. The second noise reduction part(402) eliminates the noise of a main image signal through the information about the auxiliary image signal. The high frequency extracting part(403) extracts the high frequency component of the auxiliary image signal from the output of the first noise reduction part. The detail recovery part(404) receives the output of the second noise reduction part.
