PURPOSE: An exhaust gas purification system for an engineering machine is provided to prevent the reduction of work efficiency due to regeneration control. CONSTITUTION: A pause time of a hydraulic shovel is set through an operation part(17) of a display device(16). A pause switch(13) notifies the entry of the hydraulic shovel to a pause mode. When the hydraulic shovel enters the pause mode, a car body control device(21) calculates the time required for burning the current particulate accumulated in a filter by a regenerator. If the calculated time is longer than the set pause time, a regeneration controller(4a) of an engine control unit closes an electromagnetic switching valve(15) is for the set pause time.
