PURPOSE: A cache sharing technique considering leakage energy in multiprocessor environment using private Level 2 cache is provided to improve performance and leakage energy consumption at the same time by reducing the increasing leakage energy when using the cache sharing technique. CONSTITUTION: When a cache sharing technique in multiprocessor environment using private cache is used, an expelled block in a process of selecting neighbor private cache to save the expelled block is saved considering leakage energy consumption of the neighbor private cache. When the leakage energy consumption is considered, an inactive period of a neighboring cache block which is already inactive state is predicted(303). In case time which is elapsed after being inactive passes the predicted inactive period, the neighboring cache block is determined as a soon activated block and saves the expelled block(304).
