ADAPTIVE CODING MODE DECISION METHOD USING THE MOTION VECTOR MAP IN H.264/AVC

PURPOSE: A coding mode determination method using a movement vector map of an H.264 AVC is provided to implement high-speed encoding by reducing encoding complexity without bit increase and deterioration of picture quality. CONSTITUTION: A location having a minimum SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) value is obtained in the sum total of two motion vectors(602). The obtained sum total of two motion vectors and motion estimating area size are compared. According to the comparison result, the MVM value toward the current macro block of the motion vector map is set to the designated value(603). The MVM value toward the current macro block of the motion vector map is used.
