PURPOSE: A feature point extraction apparatus based on S SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transform) capable of improving visual recognition rate by increasing the number of feature points is provided to increase the number of extracted keypoints by calculating optimized contrast threshold.;CONSTITUTION: A DOG image generator unit(710) generates a DOG image with the Gaussian pyramid of the input image. A candidate pixel extractor unit(720) extracts the sample point corresponding to maximum or the minimum of each DOG image. A contrast threshold calculator(730) calculates contrast threshold of candidate pixels used in feature point extraction responding to the input image.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
