PURPOSE: A method of setting lip region for lip reading and a device for the same are provided to accurately detect lip region for lip reading.;CONSTITUTION: An eye candidate object extracting unit(40) sets area which is distributed continuously within number range which pixel having the same binary value is predetermined as an eye candidate object in binarized image. An eye region extracting unit(50) extracts an eye region from the eye candidate object by considering geometrical feature of an eye region within image. A lip region extracting unit(60) sets the extracted lip region as an eye standard based on geometrical information of an eye region and a lip region.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2010
