MONOPULSE RADAR SIGNAL PROCESSING FOR ROTORCRAFT BROWNOUT AID APPLICATION

PURPOSE: A monopulse radar signal processing method for a rotorcraft brownout support application is provided to reduce the ambiguity of a distance and an angle at the output of a target data matrix. CONSTITUTION: Distance bins(170) are calculated. The distance bins are positioned between a near boundary point and a far boundary point of a ground interception point and an antenna altitude beam. Distance resolution improvement processing is applied on distance segments. A monopulse angle bin is estimated from the distances of the obtained target scattering body and one or more control inputs. A target data output matrix is created from 2D direction and shortest distance bins.
