PURPOSE: A special character input apparatus for a device had a touch screen, and a method thereof are provided to conveniently input a special character without switching a general character input screen into an exclusive screen for inputting a special character.;CONSTITUTION: A touch sensor(110) senses a user touch input on a specific point of a touch screen in a general character input mode. If the user touch input is maintained for a preset time, a character control unit(120) switches the current mode of the touch screen a special symbol input mode. A special symbol display unit(130) displays a special character on the touched point while switching the current mode into the special symbol input mode. In addition, the special symbol display unit sequentially displays the special characters by corresponding to the user touch in the special symbol input mode.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
