PH-SENSITIVE ALGINATE/BENTONATE HYDROGEL COMPOSITION FOR DRUG DELIVERY AS WOUND DRESSING

PURPOSE: A drug delivery material comprising pH-sensitive alginate/bentonite hygrogel ingredient is provided to release drug under the weak base condition and to control drug release rate. CONSTITUTION: A pH-sensitive alginate/bentonite hygrogel composition is prepared by mixing bentonite to alginate. The alginate and bentonite are contains in 30-90 weight% and 10-70 weight%, respectively. The effective amount of BSA(bovine serum albumin) is released at pH7.4-9.2. The alginate is a linear copolymer containing 1-4-linked -D-mannuroic acid and alpha-L-guluronic acid. The bentonite is montmorillonite, beidellite, or nontronite. A pharmaceutical composition contains a protein for trauma and the pH-sensitive alginate/bentonite hygrogel composition.
