PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for operating a dual mode of a portable terminal are provided to supply a service using each kind of IMSI information by recognizing the individual storage of each kind of IMSI information for each SIM card.;CONSTITUTION: If a portable terminal for supporting two SIM(Subscriber Identity Module) cards confirms the installation of one SIM card storing two kinds of IMSI(International Mobile System Identifier) information, a control unit(100) defines the IMSI information corresponding to the SIM card defines the IMSI information as the master information. The control unit defines the one kind of IMSI information as the second IMSI information, and a SIM management unit(102) recognizes the second IMSI information as the SIM card which does not include the second IMSI information.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
