METHOD FOR PREPARING DEODORED AND DECOLORED FUCOIDAN

PURPOSE: A method for preparing deodorized and decolored fucoidan is provided to effectively eliminate the strong odor and heavy color of seaweed while the phytonutrient component of the fucoidan is maintained. CONSTITUTION: Light is radiated to fucoidan solution at the temperature between 40 and 80 degrees Celsius for 3 to 4 hours in order to decolor the fucoidan solution. The light is selected from a group including solar light, ultraviolet ray, visible ray, and infrared ray. The decolored fucoidan solution is in contact with an adsorbing agent in order to deodorize the fucoidan solution. The absorbing agent is selected from a group including activated carbon, silica-gel, diatomite, zeolite, bentonite, alumina, charcoal, and the mixture of the same.
