PURPOSE: An oxide coating on magnesium alloy and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to ensure high anti-microbial property and to widen applications of a magnesium material. CONSTITUTION: An oxide coating on magnesium alloy formed on the surface of magnesium alloy comprises a porous layer(1) and a dense layer(3). The porous layer is the surface of the oxide coating layer. The dense layer is the inside of the oxide coating layer. The porous layer or dense layer comprises silver 0.1-2.0 atomic%. The thickness of the oxide coating layer is 10-20m.
