An apparatus and a method for controlling a space voltage vector in a two-phase synchronous permanent magnet motor are provided to improve voltage efficiency by applying the voltage only for the time relating to the operation of the motor. An angle sensor(160) senses an angle rotation of a rotor of a two phase permanent magnet synchronous motor. A current sensor(190) senses the current of the fixed coordinate system of each phase of the two phase permanent magnet motor. A second coordinate converter(180) converts the current of the fixed coordinate system into the current of the rotation coordinate system. A current loop controller(110) produces the current of the rotation coordinate system. A first coordinate converter(120) converts the voltage of the rotation coordinate system into the voltage of the fixed coordinate system. A vector controller(130) selects the space voltage vector used for controlling the two phase synchronous permanent magnet motor. An inverter controls the space voltage vector by controlling the on/off of the plurality of switching elements.
