PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for estimating the spectrum occupation of a DRM receiver are provided to simplify the synchronization and the channel estimation by estimating the occupied bandwidth through the calculation of average power. CONSTITUTION: A share bandwidth estimation apparatus(10) of DRM(Digital Radio Mondiale) receiver includes a mode detector(100), an operator(200) and a parameter estimator(300). The mode detector detects a transmission mode of a received signal, and the operator calculates the average power of a sub carrier for the received signal in a detection bandwidth. Plural detection bandwidths are set up according to the transmission mode, and the parameter estimator estimates the share bandwidth parameter of the received signal through the average power.
