A system capable of effectively detecting damage to a cable, and a method thereof are provided to detect damage to a cable by using a sensor and a remote control part arranged in the cable. A ground cable(110) is arranged in a base station which provides a wireless network communication service and a communication tower(10) including a communication antenna in a repeater station. The ground cable protects the communication antenna, the base station, and the repeater station from a lighting stroke. A sensor(150) detects damage to the ground cable, and provides a detected result to a detection signal generating part(200). The detection signal generating part provides a detection signal according to the detected result of the sensor. An alarming part(300) is adjacent to the ground cable. The alarming part includes an alarm sound generating part(310) which alarms damage to the ground cable in response to the detection signal provided in the signal processing part. A remote control part(400) remotely controls the detection signal generating part according to the detection signal.
