The method of claim 4, wherein said protocol includes transmitting messages for independently controlling at least one tune-away schedule. ! 7. The method of claim 6 further comprising tune-away control to adjust the timing of each tune-away schedule. ! 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the tune away control allows synchronization to be controlled with each member of the active set. ! 9.
