The invention relates to a composition of an adsorbent material, characterised in that it contains enstatite together with a second component selected from (a) activated carbon and (b) alumina dust, which can take the form of: granules; pellets; spheres; solid cylinders; pipe-type hollow cylinders which may be smooth or grooved, straight or curved and cut in any regular or irregular shape and size; or plates. The composition preferably takes the form of a structure having parallel channels running along the length of the longitudinal axis thereof, said channels numbering between 2 and 100 per centimeter squared of cross-section. The invention also relates to the use of said composition as an adsorbent material for liquids, gases and steams.
