FIELD: wood-working industry.;SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises defining the shape and parameters of firm heart zone, locking timber by undamaged peripheral zone and cutting timber in lengthwise direction to produce three-edged cants and sectors. First, two-edged cant is produced by making two lengthwise cuts at the distance x = d/(2√2) (where d is the diametre of firm red heart) from axis crossing centers of damaged layer at the apex and in butt. Said two-edged cant is divided in halves along damaged layer plane. Two lengthwise cuts are made in remaining segments along the edges of damaged layer to produce three-edged cants including damaged areas and undamaged sectors.;EFFECT: higher yield of sawn timber.;14 dwg
