The device (1) has two different conductivity type active transistors (N1, P1) e.g. N and P-type metal-oxide-semiconductor active transistors, mounted in series between supply voltage (V-DD) and ground (V-SS). A switching unit (3) modifies amplitude level of voltage signal (V-esd) applied on gates of the transistor without exceeding high voltage between the supply voltage and internal regulated voltage (V-REG) to adapt voltage range of integrated circuit to an external component connected to an external contact pad (2).
