The method involves receiving an electromagnetic pulse by TV receivers (1-N) and determining receiver time points of the pulse for each receiver. Combinations of the receiver time points are formed. Transmitter positions and associated transmitter time points are calculated based on each combination. A physical consistency between the calculated transmitter positions, the transmitter time points, receiver positions and the receiver time points is checked for each combination. The calculated transmitter positions are outputted when results of the check is positive. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product comprising instructions for performing a method for determining a position of a transmitter (2) a system for determining a position of a transmitter.
