The hydrant main valve (1) comprises a rotationally symmetrical valve seat (5) and a rotationally symmetrical valve body (7). The carrier part (9) of the valve body comprises a stop surface (13) deviating from the direction of the valve axis (4). The stop surface impinges a counter surface (14) on the main valve housing (2) running parallel to the stop surface in the closed condition of the hydrant main valve. The sealing (11) is so held and formed that it deforms and presses the valve seat in the closed position of the hydrant main valve. The sealing is made of polyurethane.
