The device (1) has a damper (2) that is pivotable about a rotational axis (20) inside a pipe (11), where the rotational axis is inclined with respect to the damper. The rotational axis has an inclination angle with respect to a cross-sectional plane arranged normal to a longitudinal axis (10) of the pipe, where the angle is less than or equal to 45 degrees. The rotational axis is aligned such that the rotational axis passes through the damper in a central region (Z) of the damper. An independent claim is also included for a method for driving a damper arranged in a passage region of a pipe via a wall.
