A process for the correction of the maxwell - term - errors, which by means of an nmr - the system during the detection of an nmr - image data arrays under use of an echo - planar - pulse sequence can be produced, comprising the steps of:a) detecting a k - space - data record with the use of the echo pulse sequence - planar -,b) calculating (303) of the maxwell - phase error for signals, the locations at a distance (z) from the nmr - system - isocenter extend,c) applying (305) of the maxwell - phase error in the form of a phase correction in the case of the k - space - data record,d) reconstructing (307) of an image data set from the phase corrected k - space - data record,e) storing (309) of the data in the image data set, the locations with the distance (| z |), in the nmr - image data array andf) repeating steps b) to e) for different distances (| z |), to the entire image is stored data array.
