The sewing box has an opening (8) defined by a framework (7) facing the upper surface of the box and closable by roller shutters (11,12). The roller shutters are guided into grooves running in oval shape and arranged on the longitudinal side vertical inner surfaces of the box, such that the roller shutters are concealed in the box while opening. The longitudinal sides of the framework and the base of the box form the upper and lower limits of the straight running guiding groove areas.
