The invention relates to a basin (10) having an elongated rectangular layout in which a continuous water flow is maintained in the longitudinal direction of the basin. A submerged bioreactor (14) having an aerating part through which oxygen-containing gas is fed located therebelow is installed transversely in the basin (10). A sedimentation zone (18) in which the floor (26) of the basin (10) is recessed is located upstream of the bioreactor (14) in the water flow direction. A pump transports a partial flow of water from the sedimentation zone (18) through a mechanical filter, from which the filtered water returns to the approach to the bioreactor (14).
