The injector (1) has high pressure chambers (3, 5) arranged in an injector body (2). The pressure chambers are connected with a combustion chamber by a nozzle needle (7) and injection nozzles (8). A piezoelectric actuator (10) controls the nozzle needle and is arranged in the pressure chambers coaxial to the nozzle needle. The pressure chambers limit an area connected with a relatively pressure-less fuel reservoir. A return pipe (27) penetrates into the actuator coaxial to an axis of the nozzle needle and is guided through an opening formed at a nozzle-distal end (11) of the injector body.
