The injector (1) has an actuator (11) arranged in a pressure-free actuator chamber (3). The actuator is coupled with a master piston (16) via a piston rod (15) that penetrates a wall of the actuator chamber. The master piston is displaceably operated in a master side region (19) of a coupling area, where the region (19) is arranged axially between a front side of the master piston and the wall. A slave piston (20) is arranged at a nozzle needle (8). The slave piston is displaceably arranged in a slave side region (21) of a coupling area, where the region (21) communicates with the region (19).
