A process for carrying out a diffusion measurements of a pair of a medium (1) and a diffusing foreign material, comprising the steps of– Introduction of the medium (1) into a chamber (2)– Introduction of the impurity into the chamber, separately or in dissolved form in the medium,– Heating of the medium– Out of the impurity from the chamber by rinsing or pumped out– Measuring the foreign substance content in the medium or the rate at which the foreign substance leaves the medium or the chamber,– Determining the maximum temperature t_D of the medium, in which a maximum in the rate of change of the foreign substance content in the medium inlet,– Determining a diffusion coefficient d (t) on the basis of the maximum temperature t_D and the rate of temperature change β of the medium.
