The device (4) has body elements moved on a skid (2) to an operating position by a controlled or regulated motor drive (3), and held in a predetermined position of the conveyer device. A laser device (7) measures respective position of a body or skid for each body type. The laser device transmits the measured value to an evaluation unit (8), where the measured value is compared with stored data of respective body types. A pre-determined position of the conveyer device is initiated by the drive, where the conveyor device is disconnected from the pre-determined position by the drive.
