Nanoparticle comprising piezoelectric, pyroelectric or ferroelectric crystalline core material with electric dipole properties, is claimed, where: the surface of the crystalline core material exhibits charge neutralizing adsorbate layers made of molecular and/or ionic species; the adsorbate layer is completely or partially detachable from the surface; and the dipole properties of the nanoparticles are selectively activated in the tissue and the nanoparticles are chemically or biologically effective. An independent claim is included for a method for producing nanoparticles comprising providing and contacting charge-neutralizing molecules and/or ionic species in an atmosphere or solution for the formation of an adsorbate layer on the surface of the crystalline core materials, and adjusting the adsorbed layer to be completely or partially separable by an external action to induce chemical or biological effect, where the core material is selected with a dimension of the sub-micro meter range.
