The dryer (1) has a heating stage (2) heated with a steam for carrier gas for controlled treatment of charges of drying goods e.g. cloths, with heat. The heating stage with a condensate drain is attached at a distributor in a steam-side over a pipeline (3). The pipeline guiding the steam is provided for heating and pressure compensation with a steam distributor, where a shut-off valve is provided in the steam distributor. A fan discharges exhaust air, and a regulating flap regulates steam volume in the pipeline.
