The method involves recording of form lines in sections based on orientation points of a hollow organ (1), where sections correspond to hollow organ sections (1a-1d). Active navigation along one of the lines is implemented, and parallel passive tracing of the navigation is implemented based on the remaining lines. The navigation along the remaining lines is changed when a changing point is reached. The change of navigation is continued till to a point at which all lines are not identified and/or the passive tracing is not implemented. Combined image data of the organ are processed for a user. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for automatic combination of image data of the hollow organ (2) a computer program product that is directly loaded in a processor of a programmable image processing system.
