Sensor element for use in sensor array for analytical apparatus for analysis kit for use in immunoassay or in hybridization assay, comprises two working electrodes, which are floated in their electrical potentials
A sensor element comprises two working electrodes (10,20), which are floated in their electrical potentials. A predetermined potential difference is also provided between both working electrodes. The former working electrode works as oxidizing working electrode and the latter working electrode works as reductive working electrode, where the former electrode has a higher electrical potential than the latter electrode. The both working electrodes have same shape and a thickness of 10-1000 nm, preferably 100-500 nm, particularly 200-400 nm. Independent claims are included for: (1) a method for determining substance concentrations with a sensor element or a sensor array, which involves contacting sensor element with a detected substance, binding the substance on the sensor element at binding sites, marking the substance or free lying binding sites with a marker, converting an indicator substance by an enzyme into an electrochemically active substance, and performing electrochemical redox cycling by converting electrochemically active substance by oxidation of oxidizing working electrode or by reduction of reductive working electrode into another electrochemically active substance or by oxidation of oxidizing working electrode to the former electrochemically active substance in presence of a third electrochemically active substance, which is converted into a fourth electrochemically active substance; and (2) an analytical apparatus, which comprises a flow cell, a power supply unit and an ampere meter.
