The wedge (1) has two heatable welding surfaces (2, 3) symmetrically running with respect to a plane that runs through a pointed-angular edge (4) of the wedge, where the wedge is designed as two-piece. Hot wedge halves (8, 9) in combined condition forms a hollow space inside the wedge for accommodating a set of heating elements (11) i.e. ceramic surface heating elements, where the hollow space is accessible from outside. Each hot wedge half has a recess (12), where sum of depth of the recesses corresponds to measurement length of the heating elements.
