The method involves providing parts of respective objects (2) i.e. luggage items, with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags (3), which are read out by a reader. Distance (a) of the RFID tags of the respective objects is monitored by using a camera system before reading out the RFID tags, where the objects are sequenced in movement direction of a conveyor belt (1). A gap (L) between the objects is increased, if the distance is smaller than predetermined minimum distance. An independent claim is also included for a device for transporting objects on a conveyor belt, comprising a controller.
