The method involves directly transmitting image data e.g. electrocardiogram signal, of a patient assigned to medical imaging devices (2, 3) to personal computers (8-10) over a network (6). The transmitted image data are represented in a separate observation region parallel to data of a set of patients in an optically-defined manner by representation devices (11), where the region is smaller than a finding region representing data of the set of patients. A control element is indicated in the region. The representation of the data is activated or deactivated in the region by a user i.e. doctor.
